FREE eBook for Caregivers: The Caregiver's Toolbox

I just can't wait.  And that's why I'm so excited this morning.  I've been working on a book that I think will make every caregiver's life a little bit better.  And for some, it may even completely transform their quality of life.  But after sharing just a portion of the material for this book with a close friend, my friend asked me to consider putting this material together and releasing it now as an eBook.  So that's what I've done.

As of today, you can download this 24-page "sampler" of the book that's to come.  It's called The Caregiver's Toolbox and it's full of strategies and tools that have been designed to reduce stress, elminate frustration and empower caregivers to provide the highest level of care to their loved one without losing themselves in the process.

My husband is obese with type 2 diabetes (metformin and both short- and long-acting insulin). He also won't get out of the house, and he's retired. Things just stopped after he retired and were slowing way down in the two years before he retired. He's 64 and I'm 43. He also lost his parents in 2004. He needs me to help him with hygeine, and already I'm feeling overwhelmed.

It scares me to think that I may not -- probably won't -- have him around for many more years. I know as a 5'5" woman I would have no choice but to put him into care if he falls and breaks a bone, or has a medical emergency. Any thoughts? Thanks.

There is one difference. I am 64 years old, just like I knew I would be. I think it would be easier if I was 45 again; still, I managed to take care of her for 18 years, to teach her lessons that are important and to learn from her. She has enriched my life substantially. I would not trade her for an 38 foot sailboat, a yacht, or anything else.
