I am so frustrated with my chronically ill husband saying, "I can do that" and not being able to do, but not wanting me to ask willing friends for assistance. Sometimes I just get someone to do the tasks that I can't do, but friends are reluctent to go against my husband wishes.Any suggestions would be appreciated by this very tired woman.

Jon Strum: The Coach For Caregivers

Why not have a converation with your friends and explain that you really appreciate their help -- in spite of your husband's protests. Let them know that they can support him (and you!) best by taking on some of the tasks that need to be done regardless of what your husband may have to say. Your friends will probably understand this more easily than you think.
